In light of this, the current study examines how AI affects customer experience in the telecom industry, emphasizing effectiveness, satisfaction, and trust. A structured questionnaire given to telecom users serves as the basis for the quantitative design of the study. Both descriptive and inferential methods are used in the processing and analysis of respondent data using IBM SPSS Statistics. This paper proposes a Deep Reinforcement Learning framework to address the dynamic truck assignment problem in open-pit mining, with a dual focus on performance optimization and policy interpretability. The problem is formulated as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and implemented within a discrete-event simulation environment that replicates the stochastic dynamics of truck-shovel operations. A Deep Q-Learning approach with neural network function approximation is employed to learn adaptive dispatching policies directly from simulated experience. To enhance transparency, we integrate Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods to interpret and validate the learned decision strategies. Credit risk research is based on a wide scientific literature content, hard to be synthesized and compared because of its multiple layers of models and results. Recent breakthroughs in large language models mitigate this limitation for partially automated extraction, but the majority of tools available today suffer from low reproducibility, accuracy, and faithfulness of extracted information. This paper presents an approach of a supervised large language model to generate semi-structured data used for performing automatic document processing on credit risk research papers. This work challenges how well a supervised approach can extract structured information, such as model names, performance measures, validation types and reference lists from diverse sources and digital formats. The method uses schema based guidance with automatic text retrieval. Documents are processed independently and transformed into a structured schema that is compared with a ground truth to evaluate accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness. The key evaluation parameters are title, authors, year, DOI, journal, model identification, metrics and references. Results demonstrate that the proposed supervised strategy is capable of producing higher precision, completeness and reproducibility than using general large language model extractions. It demonstrates much lower hallucination and omission error and increased content coverage. The framework is able to parse a variety of academic papers, and provides robust results across required metadata. Outside of the scientific literature, the architecture is applicable to other types of unstructured documents to credit risk research, such as annual financial statements, audit reports or legal verdicts. AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision have enhanced diagnostic accuracy, predictive analytics, and personalized treatment pathways, thereby reshaping traditional models of healthcare delivery. This paper examines the role of AI-driven medical devices in facilitating digital transformation, exploring both opportunities and challenges. A systematic review of current literature was undertaken to evaluate key applications across diagnostics, monitoring, and therapeutic interventions. The study employs a bibliometric analysis and a qualitative synthesis of peer-reviewed literature and research case studies from healthcare institutions that have adopted AI-based technologies. Findings suggest that AI-driven medical devices significantly improve patient outcomes by enabling early disease detection, real-time monitoring, and precision therapies. However, issues such as algorithmic bias, interoperability, regulatory uncertainty, and data privacy remain pressing barriers to large-scale adoption. The paper concludes that AI-driven devices represent a central pillar in the digitalization of healthcare systems, provided that ethical frameworks, governance mechanisms, and robust infrastructures are established. The contribution of this study lies in offering an integrative framework for understanding how AI-enabled medical devices not only transform clinical practices but also redefine the broader healthcare ecosystem, thereby advancing the goals of efficiency, equity, and sustainability.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Theodor-Gabriel Damianhttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/167Applying Agile and AI methodologies to incident management in mobile networks2025-10-08T20:35:55+03:00Andreea-Raluca DESPAandreea.despa@stud.etti.upb.roCatalina-Ileana RACHERUcatalina.racheru@stud.etti.upb.roGheorghe MILITARUgheorghe.militaru@upb.ro
Effective incident management is important for maintaining service continuity and user satisfaction in the ever-changing telecommunications industry of today. To overcome these constraints, this paper suggests an improved incident management framework that incorporates AI and Agile approaches. We simulate both a traditional resolution model and an enhanced Agile and AI scenario using a critical fiber cut that impacts more than 15,000 ONUs as a case study. The improved model uses AI to automatically classify incidents, correlate data, and assign tasks based on roles, while Agile sprint planning allows for parallel execution and real-time progress monitoring. Time-boxed sprints are used to organise tasks, improving coordination and cutting down on escalation delays. In comparison to the conventional method, simulation results indicate a 20% reduction in overall expenses and a 1h 45m reduction in resolution time. The results imply that a more proactive, open, and effective response to network incidents is made possible by fusing AI automation with Agile principles. Given the significance of employee-related costs and the obligations imposed by IFRS—particularly IAS 19, IAS 24, and IFRS 2—the research aims to assess how comprehensively companies comply with these standards and which determinants influence their reporting practices. The study uses a structured disclosure checklist and constructs an information disclosure index (IDI) based on the presence and completeness of required disclosures. Data were collected from 14 companies in the consumer goods and utilities sectors. The average IDI was found to be 73.89%, indicating a medium level of disclosure, with notable variation across companies and countries.

Using multivariate panel regression, the study identifies company size, financial leverage, and sector as statistically significant determinants of disclosure. Larger companies tend to disclose less, while firms with higher leverage disclose more. Companies in the utilities sector provide more comprehensive disclosures than those in consumer goods. Profitability, audit firm (Big4), and corporate governance variables (board size and independence) did not show significant influence. The findings partially align with international literature but diverge in key areas, especially regarding the non-significance of profitability and auditing by Big4 in the Baltic context.

The regression model explained approximately 29% of the variation in disclosure levels. There is a lack of research addressing the practical implementation of a dedicated Quality Management System (QMS), leaving a gap in guidance for MD manufacturers facing compliance challenges; this study systematically reviewed the existing literature to highlight recurring patterns and identify knowledge gaps. Based on a systematic review of the literature from 2016 to 2025, we address two questions: (1) What are the main challenges in implementing ISO 13485? and (2) What strategies have organizations used to overcome these challenges? Our research highlights five main challenges. These include resistance to organizational change, limited resources, lack of knowledge about QMSs, complex and fragmented regulations, and the absence of clear practical guidance in the standard. In particular, regulatory fragmentation, resource constraints, and organizational resistance often create delays, inefficiencies, and interpretative inconsistencies, especially in artificial intelligence-based medical technologies. To address these challenges, organizations have implemented process phasing, formed strategic partnerships, and provided customized training. Leadership commitment and early integration of QMS are key factors for success, especially for startups, while digital validation systems improve the traceability of documentation for regulatory audits. Harmonized regulatory frameworks, modular approaches to QMS, and ongoing assessments of identified risks can contribute to more sustainable implementation. Overall, our findings highlight the need for scalable models, regulatory alignment, and engaged leadership to drive quality, compliance, and innovation in the healthcare industry.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Nicoleta MANTA, Sérgio SOUSA, Irina SEVERINhttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/155AI adoption and organizational change: insights from international and local perspectives2025-10-02T20:06:51+03:00Valentina-Georgiana Dumitrachevalentina.dumitrache@s.unibuc.ro
This study investigates organizational change within the context of artificial intelligence (AI). Multiculturalism reflects the acknowledgement of diversity and the encouragement of equitable practices within organizations and society. The topic is highly significant in contemporary context, as global interconnectedness brings employees from diverse cultural backgrounds into the same workplace. Whan managed effectively, multiculturalism fosters inclusivity, mutual respect and cooperation, creating the foundation for a sustainable competitive advantage. Through globalization, companies gain opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation and organizational adaptability. However, it also presents some challenges such as cultural homogenization and integration difficulties. Theoretical frameworks emphasize that cultural diversity is not only a structural characteristic of organizations but also a dynamic process of interaction, learning and co-creation. Companies that integrate multiculturalism advance beyond simple tolerance toward meaningful collaboration, where diversity becomes a strategic resource. For industrial companies, multicultural teams bring distinctive approaches to problem solving, technical innovation and adaptation to global markets. Diversity supports creative solutions, more efficient communication and stronger brand recognition, contributing also to employee satisfaction and retention. The paper contributes to the topic by providing a practical perspective through case analysis. By examining real-world examples, it highlights how industrial companies leverage multiculturalism to strengthen their competitive positioning. While the overall impact is largely positive—through increased efficiency and the reduction of repetitive tasks—the digital transition in Romania faces significant challenges. This paper, based on a review of academic literature and recent statistical data, identifies four major obstacles: low digitalization levels and below-average digital skills compared to the EU, a shortage of IT specialists, the absence of coherent public policies, and a possible discrepancy between the business community's declared interest and current practices. Furthermore, the current organizational culture, characterized by limited openness to innovation and opaque decision-making, slows AI adoption. Drawing on the reviewed studies, the paper proposes strategic directions to accelerate digital transformation: promoting the importance of measures for effective adaptation, investing in education and continuous training, developing soft skills, and fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors. The findings highlight the need for an integrated approach in which education, public policy, and organizational culture are aligned to fully harness AI’s potential and close the gap with other European countries. In this paper, we look at both research and practical examples to show how technology, flexibility, and people-focused approaches are reshaping these processes. Digital platforms and AI tools help companies reach more candidates and reduce the time needed to hire. At the same time, they also bring up some tough questions about bias and fairness, which cannot be ignored. Onboarding today is more than just first-day introductions. It is about giving employees clear roles, support from managers, proper training, and access to mentorship. When done well, onboarding has a strong impact on early retention. The rise of hybrid and remote work has also made flexibility not just a “nice to have,” but something employees expect. This paper proposes an approach based on multiple-criteria decision analysis for the identification of the most performant medical unit from a private healthcare network in Romania. The study takes into consideration the conversion rate of patient visits from the hospital ambulatory into surgical interventions, considering factors such as the conversion rate for each doctor, the duration between the first visit and surgical intervention, types of medical specialities and the utilization rate of medical resources. Data comes from a clinic database, and it was processed and analyzed using a data visualisation tool. Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) was used for weighting criteria in order to correlate operational factors and clinic efficiency. The results highlight important variations between medical units, identifying medical practices which lead to the best performance in conversion rates of patients to surgical treatment. This research offers a solid decision-making framework for health managers, facilitating optimal allocation of resources and improvement operational flows. Also, the proposed methodology can be extended and applied in other fields of medical management for the evaluation of hospitals' performance. To reduce emissions from this sector, an effective and sustainable solution is to use the biogas emitted by these landfills to produce energy. Due to its benefits and growing interest, the topic has been adopted in global literature but has received little attention in Romania. Thus, this article presents a comparative analysis of biogas utilization practices between Italy and Romania. The analysis aimed to study the practices adopted by companies operating landfills in the two countries, identify the main differences between them, and formulate recommendations for improving the practices of companies in Romania. The study highlights the fact that, at the current time, there are no functional systems in Romania that can use biogas from municipal solid waste landfills to produce energy. One of the reasons for this is the low efficiency of the waste management system, mainly due to the lack of an adequate selective collection and transport system, which affects sorting and recycling processes. The results highlight the need to increase ambition, study more efficient technologies and systems, and make the necessary investments in this sector. These will contribute to multiple benefits in the future, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the overall impact on the environment, producing green energy that can successfully replace fossil fuels, with a positive economic and social impact.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Laura-Alexandra Dobre-Dorofteihttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/184Analysis of Value Added in the Sunflower Value Chain in the Republic of Moldova2025-09-24T22:43:45+03:00Aurelia LITVINaurelia.litvin@gmail.comElena CONDREAelena.scerbacov@em.utm.md
Sunflower is one of the most valuable oilseed crops in the Republic of Moldova, contributing significantly to the agricultural trade balance and farmers’ incomes. However, the structure of the value chain of this crop reflects a deep economic imbalance, in which a large part of the economic value is captured in the final segments of the chain – processing, packaging and export – while farmers are left with low profit margins. The analysis of the value added on each segment of the value chain – from primary agricultural production, collection, processing, to the export of the finished product – provides a clear picture of how economic benefits are distributed and highlights bottlenecks and potential areas for strategic intervention. In the context of a fragile rural economy and volatile markets, it is essential to identify opportunities through which Moldovan farmers can access higher value segments, whether through vertical cooperation, investments in micro-processing or integration into cooperatives. Methodologically, the assessment of added value involves calculating the difference between the sales value and the input costs for each stage, complemented by qualitative data on bargaining power, market access and managerial efficiency. Thus, the article aims to contribute to the development of economic and managerial solutions based on real data, with the aim of stimulating economic equity and competitiveness of the sunflower value chain in the Republic of Moldova, in an agricultural context in transition and with major structural challenges.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Aurelia Litvin, Elena Condreahttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/121A bibliometric study on sustainable development in the clothing industry2025-10-03T11:35:52+03:00Alexandra-Bianca GUȚĂalexandra.guta0810@stud.faima.upb.roDaniela-Cristina MOMETEdaniela.momete@upb.ro
In the context of growing global concerns about the environmental impact of the clothing industry, sustainability has become a topic of major interest in the literature. Chicken bone waste (CBW), a byproduct of the poultry industry, was selected as a feedstock for conversion into energy. In this study, CBW was first processed via pyrolysis to produce a carbon-rich char, which was subsequently gasified with air at 700 °C in a lab-scale fixed-bed batch reactor to generate synthesis gas (syngas). The resulting syngas was rich in carbon monoxide (~43.5 % CO), carbon dioxide (~39.2 % CO₂), and moderate hydrogen fraction (~14.0% H₂). It exhibited a higher heating value (HHV) of approximately 25.87 MJ/kg, and the gasification achieved a cold-gas efficiency of ~54.6%, suggesting that over half of the feedstock’s energy content was recovered in gaseous form. Based on these results, a conceptual pilot-scale system was analyzed, comprising a 100 kg/h gasifier and a 15.36 kWe syngas turbine for power generation. Under the stated assumptions, the techno-economic analysis demonstrated economic viability for syngas utilization as an energy source, with net present value (NPV) ≈ 28554 € and internal rate of return (IRR) ≈ 15.3%. Sensitivity analyses were performed to capture the impact of technical and market variability. Increasing the syngas LHV (8.98–11.67 MJ/Nm³) enhanced NPV linearly. Improving electric turbine efficiency (30-40 %) produced the strongest effect, increasing NPV to ≈ 58700 € and IRR to ≈ 21 %, while reducing discounted payback period (DPP) to ≈ 6 years. Electricity price variation (0.09–0.15 €/kWh) identified a break-even tariff of ≈ 0.106 €/kWh, above which profitability rapidly improved. Overall, air gasification of CBW-derived biochar was shown to efficiently produce high-quality syngas for power generation. This waste-to-energy pathway is energy-efficient and economically viable, illustrating a practical approach to circular economic goals through the valorization of animal-derived waste.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Mircea Gabriel MACAVEI, Roxana Pătrașcu, Cosmin Mărculescuhttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/171Reflecting the alignment of key administrative performance indicators with the UN's sustainable development goals in the public sector in the specialized literature2025-09-16T22:24:25+03:00Luciana DRAGOMIRdragomirluciana23@stud.ase.roIonut Marius CROITORUionut.croitoru0208@upb.roIGNAT Nicoleta Daniela nicoleta.ignat@upb.roMariana CHIVUmariana.chivu0608@upb.ro
Objectives: This paper examines how key performance indicators (KPIs) in public administration can be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Cultural dimensions, such as collectivism versus individualism, power distance, and long-term orientation, and generational cohorts are key influences on how organizations and employees engage with sustainability. While numerous studies explore these factors separately, their combined impact remains underexplored. This article addresses that gap by conducting a systematic literature review on how cultural values and generational differences jointly shape sustainable behavior in organizations. The review draws on peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025 in Web of Science and Scopus-indexed journals in the fields of business, management, and organizational studies. Selection criteria included empirical or theoretical studies linking at least one cultural dimension or generational aspect to sustainability-related organizational behaviors. The methodology followed PRISMA guidelines to ensure a transparent and replicable process. Findings indicate that cultural values significantly influence organizational sustainability outcomes. Cultures characterized by collectivism, egalitarianism, long-term orientation, and a concern for quality of life tend to promote environmental responsibility and social engagement. In contrast, highly hierarchical or materially driven cultures may require institutional reinforcement to adopt sustainable practices. At the same time, organizations with internal cultures that emphasize sustainability - through leadership support, employee involvement, and value alignment - report improved environmental performance. Generational differences further shape sustainability engagement. Millennials and Generation Z typically demonstrate stronger pro-environmental attitudes and expectations from employers, acting as change agents within organizations. However, the effect of generational differences is mediated by cultural context, making it essential to tailor sustainability strategies accordingly. This article contributes an integrative conceptual model and identifies research gaps, offering practical insights for managers to align sustainability initiatives with the cultural and generational profiles of their workforce.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Galina LISA, Marian JALENCU, Irina COSNICEANhttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/193Evaluating Financial Support Mechanisms in Higher Education through Performance Indicators and SDG Integration2025-10-02T19:16:30+03:00Ionut Marius CROITORUionut.croitoru0208@upb.roLuciana DRAGOMIR dragomirluciana23@stud.ase.roPaula-Paraschiva DRAGAN (SPIRIDON)paula.dragan84@e-uvt.roLiviu Mihail MATEESCUliviu.mateescu@upb.ro
Objectives: As key players in sustainable development, higher education institutions (HEIs) must integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into all aspects of their work. In order to generate technical-energy indicators and build a scenario-based financial model, the analysis includes operational and financial data for the year 2024, including biomethane 33 464 MWh, cogenerated electricity 18 938 MWh and treated wet waste 48 566 kt. The resulting energy intensity, which is used as a reference point in the scenarios for Romania, is approximately 0.69 MWh/tonne of derived organic waste, or 3.35 million Nm3/year (assuming a LHV » 10 kWh/Nm³). The scenario matrix fluctuates the biomethane price (70/90/110 €/MWh), the capital expenditure (8/12/20 million €) and the aggregate operational expenditure (6-10% of the capital expenditure). The results show a profitable area at price combinations ³ 90 €/MWh and capital expenditure £ 12 million € for a medium scale (50 kt/year) (e.g. ~5.6 years at 12 million € and 90 €/MWh; ~3.2 years at 8 million € and 90 €/MWh). The scale effect is visible, by diluting the fixed costs and using economies of scale in modernization/connection, the transition from 30 to 80 kt/year reduces the payback time of the investment from about 13.3 to 3.0 years. The following are best practices: pursuing dual sampling (grid injection + CNG/biomethane for captive fleets), securing feedstock through functional separate collection and impurity control, arranging grid connection in advance, adopting hub integration with heat recovery and transparent internal transfers. Using a quantitative survey of 48 businesses, each firm’s primary customer need focus (ranging from basic physiological needs to self-actualization) was compared against performance indicators including average net profit margin, customer retention rate, and employee engagement score. The survey data were analyzed statistically (using correlation analysis) to assess associations between the need level and each business performance outcome. The analysis revealed a statistically significant inverse correlation between the Maslow need level targeted and key performance outcomes. Businesses centered on lower-level needs (physiological and safety) achieved significantly higher net profit margins and stronger employee engagement than those addressing higher-level needs. Customer retention also tended to be lower in higher-need-focused firms, though this trend was less pronounced. These results contradict initial hypotheses grounded in motivational theory that ventures fulfilling higher-tier needs would outperform others, indicating instead that firms catering to fundamental needs currently hold a performance advantage. Practical implications for business owners and managers are significant. The findings suggest that enterprises fulfilling basic human needs benefit from more stable demand and clearer value propositions, translating into stronger financial performance and a more engaged workforce. In contrast, businesses oriented toward higher-level needs do not automatically enjoy superior success and may face greater challenges in profitability and employee morale. Managers of such ventures should plan strategically to bridge this gap—ensuring core customer expectations and employees’ basic needs are met even when pursuing an aspirational mission. Overall, this study highlights the need to reconsider assumptions about Maslow’s hierarchy in business strategy and underscores that focusing on fundamental needs can be a more reliable driver of short-term business success.
2026-01-08T00:00:00+02:00Copyright (c) 2025 Galina LISA, Iuliana DRĂGĂLINhttps://www.icmie.ro/index.php/icmie/article/view/102Innovative Materials for a Decarbonized Future: Strategies for the Developing Regions 2025-10-09T10:26:40+03:00Adriano AZEVEDO adrianogalvao@usp.brAna TRINDADE anatrindade@usp.brHolmer SAVASTANO JR.holmersj@usp.br
In the pursuit of a low-carbon future, the construction industry faces urgent challenges and opportunities to mitigate its substantial CO₂ emissions. Drawing on a comprehensive literature review, case studies, and qualitative analysis of industry data, the research elucidates the divergent funding models, production practices, and economic constraints that characterize these two paradigms. The findings demonstrate that experimental films operate predominantly within micro-budget regimes, leveraging alternative financing mechanisms such as grants, crowdfunding, and private investors, while prioritizing artistic autonomy and narrative innovation. Conversely, mainstream productions mobilize significant financial resources through institutional credit lines, international pre-sales, and risk-managed portfolios, in order to achieve large-scale distribution and maximize commercial returns. The study further highlights the transformative role of digital technologies in democratizing access to production and distribution, thereby lowering entry barriers for independent filmmakers while intensifying market competition. By juxtaposing the creative and economic logics of experimental and mainstream cinema, this research underscores their complementary roles in fostering both cultural diversity and industrial sustainability within contemporary film industries. Traditional detection systems, typically based on fixed sensors, provide limited coverage and cannot adapt to dynamic or obstructed spaces. This limitation has major consequences not only for individual safety but also for the continuity of essential services and the resilience of organizations and communities. Recent advances in mobile robotics highlight new opportunities for hazard detection and risk monitoring. However, most existing platforms are complex, costly, and primarily designed for industrial settings. This paper proposes the conceptual design of a compact, affordable, and autonomous mobile robot capable of detecting environmental hazards such as smoke, high temperature, toxic or flammable gases, and visible flames. The platform integrates multimodal sensing (LiDAR, gas/smoke sensors, temperature sensors, camera) with real-time data processing supported by a Raspberry Pi and STM32 microcontroller, while a dedicated web application provides instant alerts and situational awareness. The research adopts a design-oriented methodology, focusing on system modelling, component integration, and feasibility analysis through CAD simulations. Results indicate that the proposed robot can contribute to fire prevention, crisis management, and business continuity by enhancing early warning and enabling timely response. Although designed for small-scale environments such as homes and offices, its scalable architecture suggests potential applicability in critical infrastructure protection, where resilience and continuity of operations are essential.
